TRAVEL DIARY: SAILING AMONG EPTANISOS, GREECE

DIARIO DI VIAGGIO: NAVIGANDO TRA LE ISOLE IONIE DELLA GRECIA

Eccomi tornata dalle vacanze: 3 settimane di puro relax e divertimento trascorse tra la bellezza delle isole ionie della Grecia (zona chiamata anche Eptaniso).

Lo so, non sono stata molto presente sui social in questo periodo, ma sinceramente un po’ la rete andava e veniva, un po’ avevo proprio bisogno di staccare un momento dal web, sta di fatto che alla fine ho definitivamente lasciato perdere il telefono; e devo ammettere che sono stata talmente indaffarata che non mi è nemmeno mancato per nulla!^^

In ogni caso ora sono tornata bella carica e pronta a riprendere la mia routine!

Per iniziare, questa settimana volevo mostrarvi qualche scatto (tra le migliaia che abbiamo fatto in Grecia) e, come faccio di solto dopo ogni mio viaggio, parlarvi un po’ delle mie esperienze.

Tuttavia stavolta, dato che ormai sono diversi anni che vado in quella zona, mi sembrava inutile parlare ancora del posto (ma se vi interessa qui c’è il link ai miei post precedenti in cui troverete tutte le info utili se volete fare un salto da quelle parti) e 

piuttosto fare due chiacchiere su come si svolge una vacanza in barca (a vela, nel mio caso).

Anche se scegliere di trascorrere le vacanze in questo modo offre indubbiamente parecchi vantaggi ed è sicuramente un modo molto ecologico di viaggiare, a differenza di quanto molti pensano una vacanza in barca (a meno che non si tratti di uno yacht di notevoli – e sottolineo notevoli - dimensioni) non è così glamour e favolosa come si potrebbe immaginare.

Anzi, tutt’altro: sulle barche a motore va un po’ meglio, ma soprattutto in barca a vela si sta stretti, c’è poca acqua (quindi scordatevi le docce dopo ogni bagno a mare), poca corrente elettrica e ci sono un sacco di tempi morti (per cui evitate il più possibile le traversate troppo lunghe).

Senza contare che la barca a vela dipende dal vento: è vero che c’è anche il motore ma, dato che è pensato essenzialmente per piccoli tragitti e le manovre di attracco, va pianissimo….

Per questo è consigliabile utilizzare la barca durante il giorno e poi alloggiare comunque la sera sulla terraferma in appartamento o in hotel, nonostante abbiate a disposizione cabine anche abbastanza confortevoli (e anche se questo richiede molta più organizzazione che il solo cercare posto in rada o al porto), magari rimanendo in un posto 3-4 giorni: questa soluzione offre anche il vantaggio che se anche vi capita un momento di bonaccia potete comunque affittare un’auto e girare l’isola come vi pare.

Nonostante ciò, i lati positivi di questo tipo di vacanza sono comunque tantissimi, sia chiaro, soprattutto se amate la natura: potete andare dove vi pare, arrivare anche sulle isole non abitate e starci quanto vi pare in santa pace, fare il bagno al largo e molto probabilmente vi capiterà di incontrare tartarughe e delfini… in sintesi potete raggiungere ed esplorare tutti i posti più belli e meno turistici.

Comunque nei prossimi post vi parlerò meglio dei vantaggi e degli svantaggi della barca, per ora vi lascio alle foto, spero che vi piacciano!

Here I am back from my summer vacation: 3 weeks of pure relax and fun spent among the beauty of the Ionian islands of Greece (even called eptanissos).
I know I know, I wasn't very present on socials these days, but honestly I really needed a little getaway from the web and I have to admit that I was so busy that I didn't even miss it!
In any case, now that I'm back, I'm full of energy and ready to came back to my routine!
To start, this week I wanted to show you some of the thousands photos we (me and my parents) took in Greece and talk to you of my holidays; but since I have been going to that area for several years now, it seems useless to talk about the place again (but if you are interested here is the link to my previous posts) and rather to 

have a chat about how is to have a (sail)boat holiday.

Although choosing to spend the holidays in this way undoubtedly offers many advantages, and is one of the most ecological way to travel, unlike what many think, a sailboat holiday (unless it is a yacht of considerable - and I want to remark considerable -size) is not so glamorous and fabulous as you might imagine.
Indeed, far from it: on motor yachts it is a little better, but a sailboat it is tight, there is little water (so forget showers after swimming in the sea), little power and lots of downtime.
Not to mention that the sailboat rely on wind: it is true that there is also the engine but,since it is made for little movings it goes very slowly….
For this reason on my opinion it is advisable to use the sailboat during the day and then stay overnight on the mainland even if there are large cabins (and even if this requires much more organization than just looking for a place in the harbor), and maybe staying in a place 3-4 days: this also offers the advantage that, even if you have a moment of no wind, you can still rent a car and travel around the island as you please.
However, the advantages of this type of holiday are many, especially if you love nature: you can go wherever you like, even arrive on the uninhabited islands and stay there as long as you like in total peace, bathe offshore and you can probably met turtles and dolphins ... in short you can reach and explore all the most beautiful and less touristic places.
However in the next posts I will talk to you better about the advantages and disadvantages of the sailboat life, for now I leave you to the photos, enjoy!
