Dalla tradizione sportiva arriva il top più gettonato sulle passerelle, la maglietta con colletto e bottoncini sullo scollo. 

Con gonne e shorts, sotto la giacca, coloratissima o, meglio ancora, a grandi righe: mai più senza polo.

Se l'ultima polo che avete posseduto faceva parte del vostro kit di educazione fisica, allora potreste essere titubanti riguardo all'ultima tendenza degli anni Novanta che è riemersa. 

Tuttavia, la maglietta preppy con il colletto, che è stata vista su tutte le passerelle primavera estate, ha una nuova versione per il 2024, tutta incentrata sulla femminilità e sullo stile.

In generale, lo stile preppy è stato molto presente sulle passerelle per la primavera/estate 2024, ma gli stilisti non avevano l’intento di ricreare il look del 2008: c'era un tocco femminile e moderno in gran parte delle collezioni. 

Questo si è rivelato ancora più vero che nel caso della sempre influente Miu Miu, che ha presentato numerose polo nella sua collezione. 

Queste sono state abbinate a minigonne a balze e sandali, oppure sono state stratificate con altre camicie e giacche.

MSGM, invece, ha preso questo capo tradizionalmente sportivo e lo ha contrapposto a qualcosa di molto più femminile. Il marchio ha infatti mandato in passerella una maglia da golf oversize a righe, ornata da bellissimi fiori 3D, e un'altra ricoperta di fronzoli femminili. 

Chanel ha abbinato una polo a righe con gli slip del bikini e i tacchi per la sua sfilata, mentre Dries Van Noten ha decostruito il top da rugby e lo ha abbinato a paillettes e trucco pesante.

La polo ha subito un elegante restyling anche da Givenchy. Il marchio ha presentato una versione nera elegante con una gonna abbinata lunga fino alla caviglia, mentre Wes Gordon da Carolina Herrera ha abbinato una semplice polo grigia a una gonna a matita rosa con pizzo. 

Emilia Wickstead ha reso la sua polo parte di un due pezzi estivo in cachemire e l'aficionado delle polo Ralph Lauren ha riportato il design sulla sua passerella sotto forma di un capo in lamé oro abbinato a una voluminosa gonna da sera in tulle. 

Loewe, infine, le ha fatte sfilare con pantaloni larghi in pelle e Gucci le ha abbinate a pantaloncini coordinati.

From the sports tradition comes the most popular top on the catwalks, the T-shirt with collar and buttons on the neckline. 

With skirts and shorts, under a jacket, coloured or, even better, with large stripes: never again without a polo shirt.

if the last polo shirt you owned was part of your PE kit, then you might be hesitant about the latest Noughties trend to have resurfaced. However, the collared preppy T-shirt – which was seen all over the catwalks for spring – has a fresh take for 2024, one which is all about femininity and polish.

Across the board, preppy style was huge on the catwalks for spring/summer 2024, but designers weren’t recreating Jack Wills ads from 2008 – there was a girly, modern flourish to much of the styling. Nowhere was this truer than at the ever-influential Miu Miu, which showed numerous polo shirts in its collection. These were teamed with flouncy mini skirts and sandals, and were layered with other shirts and jackets.

MSGM meanwhile took the traditionally sporty staple and contrasted it with something much more feminine. The brand sent an oversized, striped golf shirt down the catwalk, which was adorned with beautiful 3D flowers, as well as another which was covered in feminine frills. 

Chanel teamed a striped polo shirt with bikini bottoms and enormous heels for its cruise show, while Dries Van Noten deconstructed the rugby top and styled it with sequins and huge lashes.

The polo shirt also got an elegant makeover at Givenchy. 

The brand showed a slick black version with a matching ankle-length skirt, while Wes Gordon at Carolina Herrera styled a simple grey polo with a lacy pink pencil skirt. 

Emilia Wickstead made her polo shirt part of a summery cashmere two-piece and polo-shirt aficionado Ralph Lauren brought the design back to his catwalk in the form of a gold lamé number teamed with a voluminous tulle evening skirt. 

Loewe showed them with baggy leather trousers and Gucci paired one with matching shorts.
