THE NEW PREPPY TREND FOR WINTER 2022

When we hear the word preppy, what initially comes to mind? I’m sure polo shirts with popped collars, sweater vests, cardigans, and various plaid prints immediately surface.
As someone who went to schools that required uniforms until I went to college, and participated in sports like tennis and horseback riding, the preppy aesthetic was without a doubt ingrained into my wardrobe subconscious.
And as adult, now free to make my own stylistic choices, I am continually drawn to pieces that evoke my old uniforms, despite the fact I toally hated them, and that can only be categorized as preppy.
And seems that I'm not alone.
Designers like Thom Browne and Ralph Lauren have capitalized on fashion’s apparent fascination with preppy for years, making the style a cornerstone  trademark of their brands.
Other designers have caught on and started to incorporate the trend into more of their collections with a personal twist.
Chopova Lowena and Le Kilt, for ex., are among those who have taken plaid, pleated skirts from schoolgirl prep to ultimate chic.

Fall Winter 2021/22 collections decidedly said that the preppy trend wasn’t going anywhere and was in fact, reinforced with fresher takes on what can be interpreted as unoriginal and boring.

  4. Hello Silvia, first of all I hope you're having a good start of the week despite all the current events! Have you checked the news from Milano and Paris fashion weeks? There are a lot of interesting things! :)

I am enjoying the last days of winter and the good thing about this new preppy trend is that we can incorporate some of these garments into our Spring wardrobe don't you think? I love that this trend includes a lot of warm but light knits that are the goods for cold mornings and chilly afternoons. I also love to see a lot of plaids and square that can look good with basic staples. I only have a few things like a cardigan or some vests, but maybe a new light knit could be a perfect addition in these upcoming weeks :)

Excited to see how you style the trend!
