OOTD: How to Wear Checkerboard Print

 Come Indossare La Stampa a Scacchiera

Dopo il successo autunnale di quadri e quadretti, questa stampa sta prendendo il sopravvento anche  sulla moda invernale. 

Plaid, pied de poule e percalle sono stati a lungo i punti fermi della moda autunnale/invernale sia delle passerelle che dello street style, tuttavia oggi sembra esserci un nuovo motivo preferito da pubblico ed esperti del settore: è infatti la stampa a scacchiera quella più sotto i riflettori fin da settembre. 

Spesso associata alla cultura skater, alle sneakers slip-on Vans ed in generale agli sport su rotelle, questa stampa grunge è stata reinventata e approvata dalle case di moda di lusso quali Christian Dior, Miu Miu e Coach. 

E che si tratti di un capo statement o un solo accento su un outfit basico, la stampa a scacchiera sembra esser tornata per dare nuova vita ai nostri look di questa stagione. 

Le veterane dello stile come Rihanna e Gigi Hadid hanno già ampiamente utilizzato questa stampa semi-neutra nei loro look, dalla classica scacchiera in bianco e nero a quella multicolor. 

In linea di massima comunque conviene optare per un approccio abbastanza massimalista alla tendenza, magari combinando diverse fantasie nella stessa tavolozza di colori e modernizzarla sovrapponendo ad es, un biker in pelle sotto un blazer a scacchi bicolor. 

La tavolozza dei colori invece andrebbe mantenuta neutra magari con pantaloni crema e scarpe da ginnastica in toni simili. 

Insomma, utilizzando diverse varianti della stampa a scacchiera si possono combinare colori e dettagli per creare look moderni ed audaci.

Move over plaid and gingham, after the fall, this print is taking over the winter fashion!

Plaid, houndstooth, and gingham have long been staples amongst runway fashion and street style. However, there seems to be a new favorite pattern as checkerboard print has rightfully made its way back into the spotlight. 

Often associated with skater culture, Van’s slip-on sneakers, and motorsports, the grunge print has been reimagined and endorsed by luxury fashion houses Christian Dior, Miu Miu, and Coach. 

An instant statement piece or accent to a basic outfit, checkerboard print is here to breathe new life into our closets this season. 

Style veterans Rihanna and Gigi Hadid have already incorporated the semi-neutral print into their roster, from classic black and white to multi-colored checkerboard.

Opt for a maximalist approach to the checkerboard trend by combining different patterns using the same color palette, or modernize the trend, ad es.,  by layering a plain leather blazer underneath a dual toned checkerboard blazer. 

The model's color palette instead would be kept neutral like with cream pants and similarly toned sneakers.

Using different checkerboard print variations, you can combine color and ruching to create bold  and unique looks.
