Se l'ultima volta che avete indossato un gilet è stato intorno al 2009, ora, oltre un decennio più tardi, è venuto il momento di rispolverare questo capo.

In realtà il trend ha iniziato ad esser preso sul serio fin dallo scorso settembre, quando Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent e Celine li hanno mandati sulle rispettive passerelle SS20.

Naturalmente hanno subito suscitato l'interesse della gente, e sembra che le piattaforme globali di ricerca abbiano raggiunto il picco di ricerche sul “ gilet '' nel novembre 2019. 
Ed avevano ragione. Entrando nel nuovo decennio, il nostro interesse per il panciotto non mostra segni di declino, come dimostrano i termini di ricerca che sono sempre più alti, anno dopo anno.
Le star dello street style, durante le settimane di New York, Londra, Milano e Parigi, hanno accolto e sfoggiato rapidamente anche il terzo e ultimo elemento del tailleur a tre pezzi.
Questo, infatti, è uno dei capi chiave della sartoria, con si può giocare più liberamente. 
Diane Keaton, che è una delle mie icone della moda preferite in questo momento, ci ha mostrato come indossarlo con magliette oversize e pantaloni di tweed. E in estate anche senza niente sotto, solo con una gonna a vita alta.
Questo capo infatti dona un tocco dandy al look, e rende meno definiti i codici maschili e femminili. E non è stato solo per le strade delle capitali dello stile che si è potuto ritrovare il gilet, ma anche moltissime case di moda  come Burberry, The Row e Dior li hanno presentati sulle loro passerelle AW20.
Tuttavia, se siete ancora indecise su come adottare esattamente questa tendenza, non cercate oltre.
Provate gli stili di ispirazione bohémien anni '70 di Celine, Chloe e Saint Laurent, con il gilet liberato dalle sue controparti sartoriali e abbinato a pantaloncini corti, abiti midi fluttuanti e stivali.
Oppure vi potete divertire con completi a tre pezzi, ma seguendo la regola di stile più importante: andare sul completo. Mettete la cravatta e la camicia abbottonata per un look divertente e irriverente come Bella Hadid ha fatto urante la settimana della moda di Parigi.
E se questo vi sembra troppo impegnativo, mescolate e abbinate la sartoria come ha fatto Nicolas Ghesquière con la collezione Primavera Estate 2020 di Louis Vuitton. Mettete a contrato un gilet semplice gessati o pantaloni di colore diverso.

If the last time you wore a waistcoat was at the height hype, circa 2009, now, over a decade later, the sleeveless number has made a triumphant return.

Though, it began in earnest last September, when Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent, and Celine sent them down their respective SS20 runways.

The designs clearly piqued people's interest, with global fashion search platforms informing us that searches for 'waistcoats' peaked in November 2019. And, they were right. Moving into the new decade our waistcoat interest shows no sign of waning, showing that the search term is also at it's highest ever, year on year.
The street style stars of New York, London, Milan and Paris weeks have swiftly embraced the third and final element of the three piece suit too.
This is one of the key pieces of tailoring, you can play with them.
Diane Keaton is one of my favourite fashion icons right now and she wore them with oversized T-shirts under and tweed trousers. Then, I’d love wearing them in summer with nothing underneath, with a skirt.
It brings a dandy touch to the look, it blurs the masculine and feminine codes. And it wasn't just on the streets of the style capitals where we spotted the bohemian waistcoat, with Burberry, The Row, and Dior all sending them down their AW20 catwalks.
However, if you're still stuck on how exactly to adopt this particular trend, then look no further.
Try the 1970s bohemian-inspired styles of Celine, Chloe and Saint Laurent, with the waistcoat liberated from its tailored counterparts and styled with short shorts, breezy midi-dresses and boots.
However, there’s fun to be had in the full three-piece get-up, with the most important style rule being: go the whole nine yards. Throw in the tie and button-up shirt for a fun, foppish take like Bella Hadid did on the streets during Paris Fashion Week.
If that’s a hard sell, then mix and match your tailoring like Nicolas Ghesquière did with Louis Vuitton’s Spring Summer 2020 collection. Clash a plain waistcoat with pinstripes or different coloured trousers.
