Travel Blog: Jerez, Cadiz & Other Towns

Dato che in due settimane abbiamo visitato un sacco di posti, alcuni anche piuttosto piccoli, per quanto pittoreschi, per evitare una serie di post infiniti e che probabilmente creerebbero più confusione che altro, vi parlerò solo dei paesi che mi sono piaciuti di più, o comunque di quelli più importanti.

Tra i quali, uno dei miei preferiti è senza dubbio Jerez: è un pueblo piccolino ma molto curato e caratteristico, famoso per due cose: i cavalli ed il vino (guarda caso due cose che adoro)!

Since that in two weeks me and my parents have visited a lot of places, some even rather small, however picturesque, to avoid a series of endless posts about and to get you confused, I will only talk about the places that I liked the most, or at least the most significative ones.
Among them, one of my favorites is undoubtedly Jerez: it is a small but very nice and characteristic pueblo, famous for two things: horses and wine (coincidentally two things that I love)!

Prima d'ora non avevo mai avuto modo di poter osservare bene e tanto da vicino i cavalli andalusi: ma appena li ho visti sono diventati tra i miei preferiti! Sono un po’ più piccolini di un cavallo normale ma hanno delle belle proporzioni slanciate ed un'andatura sciolta ed allegra, sono graziosissimi!!!!

E sono anche molto vivaci ed intelligenti (poi mi è capitato un cavallino dolcissimo che avrei voluto portarmi a casa, e credo che questo abbia influenzato molto la mia opinione).

Ho potuto assistere ad uno spettacolo di danza della scuola equestre andalusa ed è stata un’esperienza indimenticabile, che mi ha fatto apprezzare ancora di più le capacità e le caratteristiche di queste splendide creature ( e prima che vi vengano in mente strane idee: ho potuto constatare che vengono trattati benissimo ed hanno addestratori preparatissimi ed in gamba)!

I had never had the chance to observe the Andalusian horses well and closely: but as soon as I saw them they became my favorites! They are a little smaller than a normal horse but have slender proportions and a very gracious appereance, they are really super lovely!!!!
And they are also very lively and intelligent (then I had a very sweet little horse that I wanted to take home with me, and I think this has influenced my opinion a lot).
I was able to attend a dance show of the Andalusian equestrian school and it was an unforgettable experience, and it made me appreciate even more the skills and characteristics of these wonderful creatures (and before strange ideas come to your mind: I could note that they are treated very well and have very expert, nice and skilled trainers)!

L’altra cosa caratteristica di Jerez è il vino, quindi se passate di là non potrete evitare di imbattervi in una delle tantissime cantine che lo producono: io ne ho visitata una, esperienza senz’altro interessante dato che la produzione del vino lì è molto diversa dalla nostra, ed ho potuto assaggiare diversi tipi di vino da loro prodotto: è molto alcolico ma anche molto molto buono! Insomma è impossibile uscire da lì senza qualche bottiglia (come ha fatto mio padre, che si è lamentato tutto il tempo per ogni acquisto che facevamo io e mia mamma, ma per le bottiglie non ha battuto ciglio) !

The other thing characteristic of Jerez is the wine, so if you pass by there you cannot help but running into one of the many wineries that produce it: I have visited one, and it was definitely an interesting experience since the wine production there is different from the italian, and I was able to taste different types of wine produced by them: it is very alcoholic but also very very good! In short, it is impossible to get out of there without a few bottles (as my father did, who complained all the time for every purchase my mother and I made, but for the bottles he didn't blink)!

Poi voglio parlarvi brevemente di Cadice, più che altro perché pare che sia una località abbastanza conosciuta e molti miei amici mi hanno chiesto com’è: ebbene a me non ha entusiasmato molto.

E’ una località marittima carina e curata, vagamente sul genere di Sanremo ma più moderna tanto per fare un’esempio, con spiagge sabbiose lunghissime e pulitissime ed un mare basso e ghiacciato (dato che è Oceano).

Insomma, a parte il fatto che ci siano dei punti in cui si può fare surf, a me non ha fatto impazzire per niente.

Then I want to talk to you briefly about Cadiz, especially else because it seems to be a pretty known location and many of my friends have asked me how it is: well, it hasn't impressed me very much.
It is a nice and well-kept seaside town, vaguely like a more modern Sanremo just to give you an example, with very long and very clean sandy beaches and a low and frozen sea (since it is Oceano).
In short, apart from the fact that there are many points where you can surf, it didn't make me crazy at all.
