How To Take A Fresh Approach To Western Style

Per la primavera / estate 2018, Phoebe Philo ha presentato l'espressione più stravagante e affascinante della tendenza western travolgendo le passerelle con un trench in pelle di agnello nera, ricamato a mano e impreziosito da conchiglie (una seconda ondata di sussulti c’è poi stata quando è stato rivelato il prezzo).

Era la perfetta incarnazione del nuovo modo di indossare la classica estetica tutta americana: meno cowgirl, più Rodeo Drive.

E il fenomeno sembra continuare, perfino amplificato, questo autunno / inverno

Quel mood infatti è stato avistato ovunque da New York a Parigi: dai total look in denim sartoriali di Tom Ford, al revival di Versace dei disegni originali di Gianni che includevano cappelli da cowboy in pelle e cravatte da madriano.

Naturalmente anche da Calvin Klein, Raf Simons ha proseguito sulla strada della sua nuova interpretazione Americana riproponendo le classiche camicie western in satin saturi (e favolosi stivali da cowboy a macchie di vernice); da Chloé, i graziosi top in stile prateria vengono abbinati a pantaloni attillati da cavallerizza o eleganti mini in pelle di serpente. 

In questa stagione insomma, dimenticate tutto quello che conoscevate sull'approccio allo stile Western, buttate le camicie di flanella ed i jeans sformati. 

Piuttosto recuperate subito cinture con grosse fibbie d'argento per segnare il punto vita, stivali super decorati e lucidati alla perfezione e camicie di jeans coutire da abbottonare fino alla gola.

For spring / summer 2018, Phoebe Philo presented the most extravagantly appealing incarnation of the elevated Western trend that swept the runway when she sent out a black lambskin trench coat, hand-embroidered and embellished with shells (a second wave of gasps followed the revelation of its price tag).

It was the perfect embodiment of the new way to wear the all-American aesthetic: less rodeo cowgirl, more Rodeo Drive

And the phenomenon kept on going, even amplified, this fall / winter
In fact, that sentiment appeared everywhere from New York to Paris: Tom Ford’s sharply-tailored full denim looks were Canadian tuxedo gone glam, to the Versace’s revival of Gianni's original designs that included leather cowboy hats and bolero ties. 

Of course, also at Calvin Klein, Raf Simons continued his fresh take on Americana with classic Western shirts in saturated satins (and some fabulous paint-spattered cowboy boots); at Chloé, pretty prairie tops were paired with tight riding trousers or chic snakeskin minis.

This season, forget what you know about the rough-and-ready approach to Western, and push any oversided flannel shirts to the back of the wardrobe. Instead, your silver-buckled belts should cinch your waist, your boots be polished to perfection and your denim shirt buttoned to the throat.
