TREND ALERT: THE UNICORN STYLE

-ITA-

-ENG-

A couple of years ago, this unicorn fashion trend began to spread along with pastel colors, glitter, fairies and mermaids. It started from the streets and has developed so fast to get the catwalks in no time.

Some examples? The Moschino and Tezenis capsule collections dedicated to the My Little Pony, or the unforgettable, fairy-talish, fashion shows like those from Dior, Valentino or Thom Browne.
The magic, however, is not over with the summer 2018 and, even if everything would have made you think otherwise, is back with all its magical carefree, even for this fall.
So now it is impossible to ignore it: even the most common foods shared on Instagram are often in rainbow colors, Starbucks offered the Unicorn Frappuccino and cannot miss the Unicorn ice cream; the make-up increasingly encourages the use of glitter and sugary colors, and hoe to forget all the merchandising like mugs, notebooks and slippers with these magical animals colored in the sweetest shades.
  • But when and why was this mania was born?
It has deeper roots than a whim of recent years: we must go back in the 80/90 years have a hint of it. Those around the age of thirty will certainly remember Sailor Moon or the colorful My Little Pony, with long colored hair, which were popular not only on TV and as merchandising, but also on diaries, notebooks and fashion accessories.
Growing up, those girls, today young-women, have keep a kind of nostalgia towards the carefree of that time: and at the first hint of the return of this trend was like taking a dip in the past and finding old friends.
It is no coincidence that, in fact, there is a book called "The Unicorn Guide To Life", a sort of book-life coach to read and use in cases of emergency: because even if those girls are now grown-ups, you always need to feel a bit of that magic and protection that only unicorns and pastel ponies can bring!
