FALL 2025 MAJOR COLOR TREND: BROWN

Lo scorso dicembre, quando Pantone ha dichiarato “mousse moka” il colore del 2025, sembrava che la cosa fosse pronta per diventare una presa in giro. 

I meme sulla cacca allora abbondavano, ma è emerso che i guru del colore hanno avuto l'ultima risata perché avevano ragione.

InStyle ha definito il marrone cioccolato il colore “it” dell'autunno 2025. 

Vogue lo ha inserito tra le sei principali tendenze cromatiche della stagione. 

E ovunque si guardasse alle recenti sfilate della primavera 2026, in platea e per strada a Parigi e Milano, la gente indossava tonalità di marrone in pelle, camoscio e cashmere. 

E non solo beige o cammello, ma tonalità di marrone calde e morbide come il castagno, il bourbon e il topazio.

Ha a che fare con il bisogno di sentirsi sicuri: il marrone è un colore collegato alla terra e alla natura. E il suo punto forte è che si abbina a quasi tutto.

(In genere quando i dirigenti del commercio al dettaglio puntano sulle previsioni, credo sia un buon segno che una tendenza merita di essere investita).

Da sempre associato a Milano, dove si indossa sempre con il navy (con un risultato così chic!), il marrone si è diffuso ovunque.

E per coloro che pensano che il marrone sia indelebilmente legato agli anni '70 - l'ultima volta che è stato un colore così dominante nell'abbigliamento - il modo per cambiare prospettiva potrebbe iniziare dagli accessori.

Altri modi per entrare in sintonia con il marrone potrebbero essere le scarpe o la maglieria. 

È essenzialmente un altro colore di base, come il nero, ma un po' più morbido.

Last December, when Pantone declared “mocha mousse” the color of 2025, it seemed ripe for mockery. Poop memes abounded. But it turns out the color gurus actually had the last laugh because they were right.

InStyle called chocolate brown the “it” color of fall 2025. 

Vogue included it as one of the six main color trends for the season. 

And everywhere you looked at the recent spring 2026 fashion shows — in the audience and on the street in Paris and Milan — people were wearing shades of brown in leather, suede and cashmere. 

And not only beige or camel but warm, plush shades of brown like chestnut, bourbon and topaz.

It has to do with a need to feel grounded, It’s connected to the earth and nature. And the thing about brown is that it goes with almost everything.

(When retail executives put their own money where their predictions are, I think it’s a pretty good sign that a trend is worthy of investment.)

Always associated with Milan, where it is always worn with navy, and it looks so chic, brown has spread everywhere.

Indeed, for those who think of brown as indelibly connected to the 1970s — the last time it was this dominant a color in clothing — the way to shift your perspective may start with accessories.

Other ways to ease yourself into a brown frame of mind could be shoes or a sweater. It’s essentially another basic, like black, but a little softer.

And whether this was but a turn of the trend cycle? Well, be sure this brownout is not ending anytime soon.
