Immaginate: siamo nel 2005. 

E cerchiamo avidamente immagini degli outfit di Sienna Miller a Glastonbury con Laguna Beach in sottofondo. 

Se i nostri telefoni fossero stati abbastanza moderrni, avremmo potuto setacciare Vinted per trovare cinture alte e gilet di pelliccia di seconda mano, ma invece ci accontentiamo di canottiere, maxi gonne e bolerini di Topshop. 

Sia che foste state amanti dell'Indie Sleaze o dell'eccesso glamour dell'hip-hop, l'unica tendenza che occupava davvero le nostre menti nei primi anni duemila era la bohomania. 

Un inebriante miscuglio di fronzoli, pelle scamosciata, denim e chiffon, sostenuto dai devoti seguaci di Rachel Zoe ma ideato dalla casa di moda francese Chloé. 

Facciamo un salto in avanti di 20 anni e, scorrendo i social per trovare i momenti salienti della settimana della moda di Parigi, la prima immagine che ha catturato e trattenuto la mia attenzione è stato uno scatto dalla prima fila della sfilata autunno/inverno di Chloé. 

Una fila di zeppe identiche e di orli a fazzoletto mi ha riportato immediatamente alla mia prima adolescenza e la mia reazione iniziale non è stata di noia, ma di confortante nostalgia. 

L'accoglienza diffusa di questo ritorno al “boho chic”? Un sì entusiasta. 

L'abbigliamento boho è ufficialmente tornato all'ordine del giorno e il pubblico della moda l'ha prontamente accolto.

Come fare allora per riadottare una tendenza così particolare e renderla attuale per il 2025? 

Beh, puntando sul fattore mix e abbracciando la nostalgia, con le maniche a sbuffo e tutto il resto. 

Mentre la Gen-Z ripropone i pantaloni cargo, i top a fascia e gli accessori in stile Y2K, ecco un'alternativa per coloro che sono rimasti indifferenti alle scarpe da ginnastica con plateau e alle T-shirt per bambini. 

In fondo, c'è qualcosa di intrinsecamente più "adulto" nelle zeppe di legno e nelle camicette con le ruches..

The year is 2005. 

We’re avidly searching for pictures of Sienna Miller’s Glastonbury outfits while Laguna Beach plays in the background. 

Had our phones been up to date enough we might have been scouring Vinted for secondhand disc belts and fur gilets, but instead we make do with tank tops, maxi skirts and Topshop boleros. 

No matter whether you flirted with Indie Sleaze or hip-hop's glamorous excess, the one trend that occupied our minds rent free in the early noughties was bohomania. 

A heady concoction of frills, suede, denim and chiffon as championed by devoted followers of Rachel Zoe but conceptualised by French fashion house Chloé. 

Flash forward 20 years and when scrolling through socials to find standout moments from Paris fashion week, the first picture to grab and hold my attention was a shot from the front row of the Chloé autumn/winter  show. 

A queue of identical platform wedges and handkerchief hemlines instantly transported me back to my early teens, and unlike the return of the pedal pusher, my initial reaction wasn't dread but instead, comforting nostalgia. 

The widespread reception to this return to "boho chic"? An overwhelming yes. 

Boho dressing is officially back on the agenda, and the fashion crowd are here for it.

So how do we re-adopt such a throwback trend and make it feel relevant for 2025? 

Well, by leaning into the kitsch factor and embracing the nostalgia, billowing sleeves and all. As Gen-Z repurpose cargo pants, bandeau tops, and Y2K-coded accessories, here is an alternative for those who were left cold by platform trainers and baby tees. 

Something just feels inherently more "grown-up" about wooden wedges and ruffled blouses.
