Quando Miuccia Prada decide che qualcosa è tornato di moda, il resto dell'industria della moda tende ad allinearsi. 

Miu Miu è probabilmente la sfilata che attualmente ha il maggiore impatto sul ciclo delle tendenze, e nella collezione primavera/estate 2024 la polo preppy è stata il cuore della collezione. 

Le modelle erano vestite come matricole del 2008, con polo blu abbinate a pantaloncini larghi, blazer da collegiale e infradito o scarpe da barca.

Il revival degli anni Novanta è in atto da qualche tempo, ma solo di recente i moodboard si sono spostati dal look alla Paris Hilton verso uno stile universitario tanto casual quanto preppy. 

Le modelle di Miu Miu sembrava che stessero andando a lezione dopo una serata fuori nel 2008, ma altrove questo mood preppy era un po' più country-club chic.

Le polo di Dries van Noten erano molto preppy, con ampie righe orizzontali e una palette di colori da Ivy League, ma è stato lo styling a dare a questa maglia di cotone per tutti i giorni un tocco street-style. La maglia da rugby blu e verde muschio è infatti stata abbinata a una gonna trasparente impreziosita da paillettes, a un cappotto sartoriale nero, a tacchi e calzini a fantasia. 

A Milano, l'attenzione si è concentrata sulla collezione di debutto di Sabato de Sarno per Gucci, che ha puntato su capi semplici. 

Le sue polo Gucci sono state realizzate in maglia fine all'uncinetto, con dettagli a righe rosse e verdi sul colletto e sui polsini - i pantaloncini in micro maglia abbinati non hanno fatto altro che aumentare l'effetto Gossip Girl.

When Miuccia Prada decides something is back, the rest of the fashion industry tends to fall in line. 

Miu Miu is arguably the show that currently has the biggest impact on the trend cycle, and in the spring/summer 2024 collection the preppy polo shirt was at the heart of the collection. 

Models dressed like the posh boys at freshers weeks in 2008, with navy polo shirts paired with baggy board shorts, collegiate blazers and flip flops or boat shoes.

The Noughties revival has been happening for some time now, but only recently have the moodboards moved away from Paris Hilton and towards university style that is as sloppy as it is preppy. 

The models at Miu Miu might look like they’re shuffling off to lectures after a heavy night in Walkabout circa 2008, but elsewhere this preppy mood was a little more country-club chic.

Dries van Noten’s polos were as preppy as they come, with wide horizontal stripes and an Ivy League colour palette, however the styling is what gave this everyday cotton jersey a street-style edge. 

A navy and moss-green rugby shirt was dressed up with a sequin-embellished sheer skirt, a black tailored coat, heels and patterned socks. In Milan, there was a lot of attention on Sabato de Sarno’s debut collection for Gucci, in which he zeroed in on uncomplicated staples. 

His Gucci polos came in fine crochet knits, with red and green striped detailing on the collar and cuffs – the matching micro knitted shorts only added to the Gossip Girl effect.
