S/S 2023 FASHION TRENDS FROM CATWALKS: Materials

La sensualità continua a raccontarsi attraverso trasparenze e pizzi, soprattutto sugli slip dress (ora caposaldo del guardaroba femminile contemporaneo che ritroviamo puntuale a ogni stagione ma declinato in nuovi trend) e in generale su capi presi in prestito dal mondo della lingerie e corsetteria (vedi Dolce & Gabbana e Karoline Vitto). 

Una malizia più francese è quella dei materiali dalla rifinitura glossy, quindi lucidi che a volte citano il make-up: non solo borse e scarpe di vernice ma anche capispalla che si rifanno a Catherine Deneuve in Bella di giorno e al suo capospalla disegnato da Yves Saint Laurent.

Un discorso diverso da Bottega Veneta: qui il logo è completamente assente e non c'è spazio per il quiet luxury (che ora perde le sfumature più neutre in favore della tendenza colore 2024 rosso scuro), sostituito dalla laboriosità dei materiali e delle texture. 

È un tipo di sfilata materica che vuole sollecitare i sensi, vista anche da Alberta Ferretti, JW Anderson e Loewe, pronta a imporsi nell'era AI quasi per farci tornare nel mondo reale, quello fatto di sensazioni e, perché no, anche di ricordi.

Ed è anche il fattore emozionale a segnare diverse sfilate della primavera estate 2024: c'è l'omaggio a Franco Moschino attraverso gli occhi e le mani di 4 stylist - in occasione dei 40 anni della Maison -, c'è Irina Shayk portabandiera dello stile Vivienne Westwood per ricordare la fondatrice dell’iconica maison attraverso corsetti e abiti da sposa sognanti, c'è l'addio di Sarah Burton ad Alexander McQueen dopo aver raccolto l'eredità dell'hooligan della moda...

Sensuality continues to tell its story through transparencies, lace, slip dresses (now a staple of the contemporary female wardrobe that we find again punctually every season but declined in new trends) and garments borrowed from the world of lingerie and corsetry (Dolce & Gabbana and Karoline Vitto). 

A more French mischievousness is seen in materials with a glossy finish, i.e. shiny materials that recall make-up: not only patent leather bags and shoes, but also outerwear that harks back to Catherine Deneuve in Belle du jeur and her coat designed by Yves Saint Laurent.

It is a different story at Bottega Veneta: here the logo is completely absent and there is no room for quiet luxury (which now loses its more neutral shades in favour of the 2024 dark red colour trend), replaced by the industriousness of materials and textures. It is a material fashion show that wants to stimulate the senses, also seen by Alberta Ferretti, JW Anderson and Loewe, ready to impose itself in the AI era to return to the real world, the one made of sensations and, why not, also of memories.

And it is the emotional factor that marks several of the Spring Summer 2024 shows: there is the homage to Franco Moschino through the eyes and hands of 4 stylists - on the occasion of the Maison's 40th anniversary -, there is Irina Shayk as the standard-bearer of the Vivienne Westwood style to remember her through corsets and dreamy wedding dresses, there is Sarah Burton's farewell to Alexander McQueen after having taken up the legacy of the fashion hooligan...
