LOOKS: How to Wear Indie Sleaze in Fall 2023

Come Indossare L'Indie Sleaze Nell'Autunno 2023

Basta dare un'occhiata alla collezione Indie Summer SS23 e alla collezione Donna AW23 di Celine, dove sembrava che qualcuno avesse rubato i guardaroba di Pete Doherty e Kate Moss mentre si divertivano a Glastonbury 2007, per capire quanto, nonostante tutto il “quiet luxury”, una vena punk sia sempre presente nella moda.

Ora siamo nel 2023, non nel 2007, ed è il momento di approfittare della situazione, e quindi, che so, di mettere cinture di grande effetto senza preoccuparsi delle dimensioni.

Ecco allora alcuni punti fermi dell'indie style da sfruttare dal mattino alla sera.

• Stivali da motociclista con fibbie
• Come si è visto su una delle icone della moda della fine degli anni 2000, Ashley Olsen, la combinazione di stivali e gambe nude è una mossa efficace per le ragazze indie. Combina gli aspetti pesanti dello stivale con la femminilità più morbida di un abito o di un paio di pantaloncini.
• Sciarpe skinny
• Sempre in linea con le influenze delle rockstar degli anni '70, una sciarpa skinny lunga e fluente è un altro punto fermo dell'indie sleaze per completare ogni outfit. Fate un nodo o un fiocco, o tenetela sciolta e il look sarà perfetto.
• Cappotti di (eco)pelliccia
• Per non congelarvi mentre chiacchierate con i musicisti nell'area fumatori, indossate un cappotto di ecopelliccia, meglio se a pelo corto. O anche se state facendo un salto a fare la spesa. Una pelliccia può elevare qualsiasi look, mescolando il grunge di un outfit con il glamour della  giacca per una combinazione perfetta. Vintage o finta, ovviamente.
• Giacche da motociclista.
• Prendete il classico completo, sostituite i pantaloni con i jeans e il blazer con una giacca da motociclistae otterrete un outfit da giorno stiloso senza sforzo. Allo stesso modo, l'accostamento di un abito da sera con una giacca da motociclista dà un tocco edgy al look, seguendo la tendenza dello stile indie di combinare pezzi duri e pesanti con altri più leggeri e femminili.
• Accessori! E quando pensate di aver esagerato, aggiungetene un'altro...
• Essere ricoperte di ogni sorta di gingilli è una mossa indie d'élite. Dovete sembrare come se aveste svuotato il reparto accessori di un grande magazzino. Pensate ad anelli e collant colorati, a rete o fantasia. Cappelli piatti, bakerboy e fedora. Spille e spillette, ecc.
• Metalli e paillettes
• Questa parte rientra nell'aspetto "sleaze" dell'indie sleaze. Niente dice "uscita serale" come paillettes o  metalli vistosi e riflettenti. Il segreto è abbinare il vostro pezzo appariscente a qualcosa di più tenue e quotidiano. Per esempio, una gonna di paillettes con una t-shirt vintage ed un bel paio di Dr Martens.

Just check out Celine’s SS23 Indie Summer collection and its AW23 Womenswear collection, where it was as if someone robbed the wardrobes of Pete Doherty and Kate Moss whilst they were living it up at Glastonbury 2007.

Now, it’s 2023, not 2007 and it’s time to have your cake, eat it, and layer some statement belts across your waistline without worrying about its dimensions.

Here are distilled it down some indie staples to give you that never-ending night out, backstage beauty look.

• Buckled/ harnessed biker boots
• As seen above on edgy it-girl fashion icon of the late 2000s, Ashley Olsen, pulling off the boot and bare legs combo is an effective indie girl move. It combines the heavy-duty aspects of the boot with the softer femininity of a dress or shorts.
• Miu Miu’s leather buckled biker boots are currently sold out, but not to worry, harnessed and buckled biker boots can easily be found second-hand at less than a fraction of the price. 
• Skinny scarfs
• Keeping to its 70s rockstar influences, a long and flowing skinny scarf is another indie sleaze staple to top off your outfit. Tie in a knot, or pussy bow, but keep it loose like your morals and you’ve nailed the look.
• Fur coats
• So that you don’t freeze off when you’re chatting up musicians in the smoking area, whack on a fur coat, the shaggier the better. Or even if you’re just popping to the shops. A fur coat can elevate any look, mix the grunge of your outfit with the glamour of your jacket for the perfect combination. Vintage or faux obviously.
• Biker jackets.
• Take the classic suit, swap out the trousers for jeans and the blazer for a biker jacket like our indie queen Devon Ross and you’ve got an effortlessly cool day-to-day outfit. Equally, the juxtaposition of mixing a party dress with a biker jacket brings edge to the look, following the indie styling trait of combining both hard, butch, and heavy-duty pieces with lighter and more feminine ones..
• Accessorise! And when you think you’ve gone too far, add one more thing
• Being draped in all sorts of trinkets is an elite indie move. You’re aiming to look as though you’ve cleared out the accessories section at an Oxfam on payday. Think rings and colourful, fishnet and patterned tights. Flat caps, baker boy hats and fedora caps. Broaches and pin badges.
• Metallic and sequins
• Now this part plays right into the ‘sleaze’ aspect of indie sleaze. Nothing says “going out” like a flashy and reflective sequin or metallic number. The key is to pair your eye-catching piece with something more muted and day-to-day. For example, mixing a sequin skirt with a vintage band tee and a pair of biker boots, cowboy boots or Dr Martens.
