L'abito e la gonna sono capi talmente legato all’estate che potrebbero rimanere nel guardaroba per anni e anni, senza essere influenzati dalle tendenze. 

Un abito di cotone bianco, ad esempio, sopravviverà a qualsiasi moda delle passerelle ed è un ottimo investimento per il guardaroba. 

Un ottimo capo estivo dipende in gran parte dalla vestibilità più adatta, che sia aderente, maxi, mini o oversize.

Cosa aspettarsi quindi in fatto di abiti e gonne per la primavera/estate 2023? 

Il termine "form-fitting" sembra essere la parola d'ordine della stagione, che si tratti di abiti in jersey elasticizzato, gonne seconda pelle, maxi dress aderenti o vestiti in denim senza spalline di ispirazione anni Novanta. 

Tuttavia, questo non va a scapito della raffinatezza, anzi, è stata proprio la tensione tra il coperto e il trasparente a creare maggior interesse sulle passerelle.

Rivelare e nascondere è stato un tema costante in tutte le sfilate della scorsa stagione. 

Marchi come Nensi Dojaka e Valentino lo hanno reinterpretato a modo loro, mentre Saint Laurent è stato il pioniere della tendenza con maxi abiti trasparenti, creando un'interessante giustapposizione tra l'essere completamente coperti e il rivelare allo stesso tempo.

Anche una rivisitazione contemporanea della femminilità tradizionale ha attraversato le collezioni, con sottovesti di pizzo ispirate alla lingerie, stratificate su pantaloni e abbinate a robusti stivali di pelle per un tocco grungy. 

Nel frattempo, la silhouette a clessidra che strizza l'occhio alla vita ha abbandonato le sue connotazioni domestiche da Loewe con punti vita esasperati. La contraddizione non è mai stata così chic.

Avvolgente, aderente alle curve ed elasticizzato, l'abito e la gonna seconda pelle ha certamente fatto sentire la sua presenza sulle passerelle della primavera/estate 2023. 

Dagli abiti drammatici di Saint Laurent che scendono fino al pavimento alle versioni nere con scollo a arrotolato di Ferragamo, il bello di questo abito è che può essere facilmente elevato per un evento (basta aggiungere gioielli vistosi e tacchi), così come può essere abbellito con stivali piatti per il weekend.

A skirt or a dress is such a summer stalwart that it can live in your wardrobe for years and years, largely unaffected by trends. 

A white cotton dress, for example, will outlive any catwalk fad, and is a great wardrobe investment piece. 

Largely a great summer piece relies on what fit is best for you – whether it’s nipped in, maxi, mini or oversized.

So what to expect in the dress stakes for spring/summer 2023? 

Form-fitting seems to be the buzz term of the season, whether it’s stretch-jersey, second-skin skirts, curve-hugging maxis or strapless, Noughties-inspired denim numbers. 

This doesn’t, however, come at the expense of refinement, and it was the tension between covered-up and sheer that created interest on the runways. 

Reveal and conceal was a consistent theme throughout last season’s shows. 

With brands such as Nensi Dojaka and Valentino reimagining this in their own way, and Saint Laurent pioneering the trend with sheer maxi dresses – creating an interesting juxtaposition between being fully covered whilst revealing all at the same time. 

A contemporary take on traditional femininity also wove itself through the collections, with lingerie-inspired, lacy slips layered over trousers and styled with tough leather boots for a grungy twist. Meanwhile the waist-whittling hourglass silhouette discarded its domestic connotations at Loewe with jarringly jutting, padded waistlines. Contradiction never looked so chic.

Clinging, curve-hugging and stretchy, the second-skin dress and skirt certainly made its presence felt on the spring/summer 2023 runways. 

From Saint Laurent’s dramatic floor-skimming numbers to Ferragamo’s black roll-neck iterations, the beauty of this dress is that it can just as easily be elevated for an event (just add chunky jewellery and heels), as it can dressed down with flat boots for the weekend.
