L'ultima tendenza delle passerelle 2022? Jeans a vita ultra bassa dalla silhouette ampia e oversize.

 Questo stile ha preso piede nelle ultime stagioni, e molti marchi come Missoni, Vaquera, MSGM e Molly Goddard hanno dimostrato che il revival del low-slung non è affatto più un punto debole sul radar della moda, anzi, sembra proprio voler rimanere tra noi. 

Ora come nel 2000, è un caso in cui più bassa è la cintura, meglio è. 

Le modelle Emily Ratajkowski e Bella Hadid e la cantante Dua Lipa indossano modelli di pantaloni larghi e bassi dalla scorsa estate, spesso con praticamente tutto il busto esposto. 

E anche quell'altro (terribile) trend di styling visto l'ultima volta negli anni 2000 - la "coda di balena" o indossare jeans bassi con la parte alta del perizoma visibile - sembra voler tornare.

La tendenza fa parte di un più ampio interesse per lo stile Y2K della Gen Z. 

Alexander McQueen ha debuttato con i suoi cosiddetti bumster nel 1996 - pantaloni indossati così bassi che la parte superiore del sedere era esposta – ed anche il Gucci di Tom Ford aveva portato il perizoma a vista in passerella più o meno alla stessa epoca. 

All'inizio degli anni 2000, i jeans a vita bassa erano indossati da celebrità tra cui Keira Knightley, Jennifer Lopez e le Destiny's Child, e la coda di balena la si poteva vedere persino sul tappeto rosso, da vip quali Christina Milian e Pamela Anderson. 

E pare che anche i nuovi marchi siano rimasti coinvolti nella tendenza. 

Non è ancora chiaro comunque se i jeans a vita bassa continueranno a crescere e ad eclissare altri stili di denim o a convivere con essi.

The latest trend to grace the 2022 runways? Ultra-low-rise jeans in baggy, oversized silhouettes. 

The polarizing style has been gaining steam over the past few seasons, but brands like Missoni, Vaquera, MSGM, and Molly Goddard have proved that the revival of low-slung is not some blip on the fashion radar—it’s here to stay.

Now, as then, it’s a case of the lower the waistband the better. 

Models Emily Ratajkowski and Bella Hadid and singer Dua Lipa have been wearing baggy low rise styles since last summer, often with a yard of exposed midriff. 

And that other styling trick last seen in the 00s – the ‘whale tail’, or wearing low jeans with the strap of a G-string visible – is back too

The trend is part of a wider interest in Y2K style from Gen Z. Alexander McQueen debuted his so-called bumsters in 1996 – trousers worn so low that the top of the wearer’s bum cheeks were exposed – while Tom Ford’s Gucci had visible thong straps, and sometimes just thongs, on the catwalk around the same time. 

By the early 00s, low rise jeans were worn by celebrities including Keira Knightley, Jennifer Lopez and Destiny’s Child, and the whale tail was on the red carpet, worn by Christina Milian and Pamela Anderson.

New brands are also involved in the trend. 

Whether or not low rise jeans will continue to grow as a trend, and eclipse other denim styles, is still unclear.
