Non ci sono dubbi: alla voce “must have” della stagione non può mancare la canotta bianca.

Il capo più basic del guardaroba - finora relegato al cassetto dell’intimo o al massimo all’anta dell'abbigliamento casual - sarà il pezzo glam da indossare day & night.

Miuccia Prada e Raf Simons ad es. l'hanno accostato a longuette preziose e Mary Jane in vernice, mentre Matthieu Blazy, nuovo direttore creativo di Bottega Veneta, ha proposto il tank top in cotone in combo con pantaloni neri e gioielli gold. Tra le idee look che hanno conquistato il pubblico c’è poi quella - grintosissima - di Chloé, con leather pants e stivali a punta.

Ma sapete come è arrivata fino a noi?

La prima canotta bianca è stata progettata negli anni '10 come indumento intimo da uomo, pensato per essere indossata sotto le magliette e durante il nuoto.

Poi, tra gli anni '20 e '40, la canotta bianca iniziò ad essere indossata come capospalla durante la prima e la seconda guerra mondiale, quando gli uomini presero l'abitudine di indossare indumenti intimi come capi di vestiario.

Tuttavia, fino al 1934, la canotta non era mai stata ben vista se indossata in pubblico; la prima volta che il capo di abbigliamento ha iniziato ad esser accettato dalle masse è stato in una scena di "Tutto in una notte" in cui l'attore Clark Gable si è tolto la maglietta per rivelare una canotta bianca sotto - il pubblico era scandalizzato, ma le vendite delle canottiere sono salite alle stelle.
