The History of the Corset Trend

Prima di analizzare l'iterazione moderna del corsetto, è importante conoscere la storia della tendenza per capire il motivo per cui torna costantemente, o forse perché non è mai andato completamente via: continua a evolversi proprio come fa la moda. 

Il corsetto risale al 1500 ed era inizialmente pensato per far raggiungere al corpo femminile silhouette naturalmente irraggiungibili.

Un notevole ritorno è stato nel 1970 quando la designer britannica Vivienne Westwood li ha rivoluzionati utilizzandoli come punto fermo della sua estetica punk e dell'empowerment femminile, adottandoli non come intimo ma come capo a tutti gli effetti. 

Negli ultimi anni, i suoi top a corsetto sono uno dei pezzi vintage più ambiti e ricercati dagli acquirenti dell'abbigliamento di seconda mano. 

Un'altra spinta innegabile alla tendenza l’ha data il couturier francese Thierry Mugler, responsabile di alcune delle più iconiche sfilate di corsetti, ad esempio quando la modella Nadja Auermann è uscita con un corsetto dorato e rigido punteggiato di strass, che ha rafforzato il rapporto tra corsetti e emancipazione femminile.
