OOTD: Pink Fur & Embroideries

Il giorno più romantico dell'anno si sta avvicinando rapidamente e diventa difficile resistere alla tentazione di pensare a qualche outfit per l'occasione, che ci sia in ballo un’appuntamento romantico o meno.  

Le opzioni sono infinite con così tante ispirazioni sul web.  

E l’idea di giocare con i colori tipici di questa festa diventa man mano più stuzzicante.

Tuttavia, quando si tratta di vestirsi per una festa, il miglior consiglio di stile mi sento di dare è questo: evitate di prenderla toppo alla lettera. 

Naturalmente se sei bombardato da rosa e rosso ovunque nelle settimane precedenti San Valentino, la tentazione di accoppiare il nostro vestito rosso preferito con una borsetta rosa è comprensibile - e più passa il tempo, più è accettabile sembrerà.  

Tuttavia provate a chiedervi cosa pensereste della scelta dell'outfit che avete immaginato il prossimo mese o tra un'anno. 

Una volta arrivato e passato San Valentino, quel vestito rosso abbinato alla borsetta rosa sembrerà una scelta molto meno ovvia e molto più un "ma a cosa stavo pensando?" Abbiamo fatto tutte questi errori: succede.  

In conclusione, quello che ho imparato è che un colore stagionale alla volta è più che sufficiente: scegliere una pelliccia rosa per S. Valentino ad es, va bene ma abbinata con un abitino nero ricamato diventa una scelta meno chiassosa pur rimanendo altrettanto romantica.

The most romantic day of the year is fast approaching and we can’t resist dressing up for the occasion, date or no date. The wardrobe options are endless with so much inspo out there on the interwebs. 

And it being Valentine’s Day and all, working the holiday colours into our look is a no-brainer.

When it comes to dressing for any holiday, the best style advice I can give is this: avoid being too literal. 

When you’re bombarded by pink and red everywhere you go in the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day, the temptation to pair your favourite red dress with a pink handbag is understandable – and so is the fact that the more time passes, the more acceptable that seems. 

But when it comes to getting dressed, especially for holidays, ask yourself what you’ll think of your outfit choice next month, and next year. 

When Valentine’s Day has come and gone, that red dress paired with a pink handbag will seem a lot less like a natural choice and a lot more like “what was I thinking?” We’ve all made those sartorial choices; it happens. 

To end, what I’ve learned from it is that one seasonal colour at a time is more than enough – wearing a pink (faux) fur, for ex., is enough, so better pair it with black embroidered dress: still romantic but less gaudy.
