Si sa che una tendenza è davvero importante (e sta per comparire in molte foto paparazzate di celebrità) quando viene adottata da The Row, e per la primavera/estate 2024 il marchio ha proposto una rivisitazione più morbida della polo, con una camicia rosa dal colletto aperto abbinata a una gonna midi e a un trench. 

Senza loghi, righe o bottoni, The Row allontana la polo dal suo passato snob e dimostra che può essere un'utile alternativa al girocollo bianco o alla canottiera a coste che hanno dominato negli ultimi anni.

Se volete un look più curato, che non faccia chiedere a chi vi guarda se avete iniziato a giocare a lacrosse, abbinate la polo a un blazer sartoriale grigio, blu o nero. 

Se il vostro stile si colloca a metà strada tra lo sportivo e l'elegante, l'abbinamento polo e blazer sartoriale risulta un po' preppy e molto raffinato, da indossare per tutta la stagione, abbinata a mules per un cocktail bar e a scarpe da ginnastica retrò alla scrivania.

Se avete bisogno di un'ulteriore prova del fatto che le polo stanno per prendere il posto delle canottiere come T-shirt del 2024, date un'occhiata alle celebrità che le hanno indossate di recente.

Hailey Bieber e Rihanna sono state le prime ad adottare questa tendenza. 

All'inizio dell'anno, entrambe hanno indossato la polo a righe cropped di Loewe con jeans larghi come tonico a qualsiasi connotazione da country club soffocante.

Taylor Swift, invece, sembrava pronta a iscriversi al semestre autunnale in un posto di lusso con il suo abbigliamento da cavallerizza che ha sfoggiato a ottobre.Ha vestito i panni di Serena van der Woodsen con una polo oversize di Stella McCartney (con tanto di logo del cavallo), stivali di pelle marrone alti fino al ginocchio e una collana tennis.

You know a trend is of real significance (and about to feature in many celebrity paparazzi photographs) when it is adopted by The Row, and for spring/summer 2024 the brand offered a softer take on a polo, with a pink open-collar shirt styled with a midi-skirt and waterproof coat. 

With no logos, stripes or buttons, The Row is moving the polo away from its posh past and showing this can be a useful alternative to the white crew-neck or ribbed tank top that have dominated in recent years.

If you want a more polished look that won’t have people wondering if you’ve taken up lacrosse, then pair your polo with a tailored blazer in grey, navy or black. 

If your style mediates somewhere between sporty and sleek, the polo shirt and tailored blazer combination will look bit preppy, a lot polished, to wear all season long, accessorised with mules for a cocktail bar and retro trainers at my desk.

If you need further proof that polos are going to take over tank tops as the T-shirt of 2024, then let’s take a look at the recent celebrity wearers.

At the beginning of the year, they both wore Loewe’s cropped striped polo with baggy jeans as a tonic to any stuffy country club connotations. 

Taylor Swift, meanwhile, looked like she was ready to enrol for fall semester somewhere fancy in the prim, horsey get-up she sported in October. 

She cosplayed as Serena van der Woodsen in an oversized Stella McCartney polo shirt (complete with a horse logo), knee-high brown leather boots and a tennis necklace.

Whether you want to be as prim as Taylor, or look like a sloppy fresher, there is no doubt that you’ll be seeing a lot more of the polo shirt in 2024.
