FALL/WINTER 2021-22 FASHION TRENDS FROM CATWALKS

LE TENDENZE AUTUNNO INVERNO 2021-22 DALLE PASSERELLE

-ITA-

  • Foulard in testa
  • Gambe in primo piano
  • I ruggenti anni '20

Despite this is the moment of next year's spring / summer fashion shows, honestly, at the end of September, it seems to me more logical to do an investigation on what will be the trends of the coming months, at least according to the catwalks.
In a scenario dominated by many question marks, at least fashion gives us some certainty.

The New York, London, Milan and Paris fashion shows - many of which held in virtual mode - have in fact outlined the trends and the new in for the next Autumn Winter 2021-22.

And if saying goodbye to swimsuits and sundresses brings a little melancholy, you have also admit that finding out what fashion trends we will wear in the coming months still brings a pinch of good mood. Plus, next autumn winter, despite everything, promises to be in the name of optimism and a rediscovered joie de vivre (at least for what concerns fashion), between recalling the past and leaps towards a some futuristic future, where find their place both relaxed and edgy silhouettes, bold colors and ultra sophisticated details, reassuring evergreens and new musts.
So let's start to see what will be the most interesting trends of the incoming cold season!
  • Bold colors
  • The catwalks have spoke: autumn and winter seasons will be colorful. And I'm not talking of dark colors or delicate nuances - or rather, not only - but bold, vitaminic, cheeky colors. A shock (chrome) therapy to fill up with optimism and good mood every day.
  • Head scarf
  • For some times handkerchiefs and scarves have made their (re) appearance on the catwalks and this trend keep on leading the key trends of the cold months. Versatile and smart, the head scarves are the most clever accessory to bring: able to give the right turn - and the right style - to our days. To be worn tied under the chin with a Hollywood diva-style goggles, or as a bandana in a perfect hippie chic mood.
  • Legs on the spotlight
  • The start was given by Valentino's creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, who created for his Act Collection, very short, sensual and at the same time romantic silhouettes. But the designer is in good company. Maisons like Chanel and Emporio Armani have also followed the same direction. The legs will be on the spotlight, enhanced by very high heels, wrapped in matelassé boots or wrapped in ton sur ton opaque tights.
  • Preppy style
  • Pleated skirt, French beret, bon ton blouse, cable-knit sweater: start putting everything on your wishlist because next season will see the triumph of the preppy style. The "pre-school" style born in the 60s among British college kids will back to break into your fashionistas hearts and give a Brit touch to your outfits.
  • Roaring '20s Redux
  • Those who love to the idea of a new Roaring '20s on the horizon, will be satisfied. Flapper dresses abounded in silks and lace from Khaite and Kwaidan Editions. More modern iterations can be insead found at Kim Jones's new Fendi and Gabriela Hearst's new Chloé. Layered under long coats at Miu Miu and Paco Rabanne, or with a grunge '90s take at Coach, these nightie-inspired dresses are made for the nightlife.
  • Après-Ski
  • Keep your après-ski in check with Fair Isle knits that just beg for a weekend in Aspen or Gstaad. Cropped or cardi, in classic shades or bright pinks and reds, these cozy knits pack a visual punch. It's statement sweater dressing for living that ski-in/ski-out life. Perhaps it's a nod to the intrinsic nature of socially distant slopes, or an embrace of a max exodus to the country. However you twist it, according to Miu Miu, Chanel, Balenciaga, and Junya Watanabe, next season is all about that cozy ski sweater life.
