FALL 2020 FASHION TRENDS: THE NEW PREPPY

 TENDENZE MODA AUTUNNO 2020: IL NUOVO STILE PREPPY

Sembra proprio che, dopo anni di minimalismo e comodo basic, lo stile preppy sia tornato. 

E durante le settimane della moda, le collezioni autunno/inverno 2020 lo hanno reso molto chiaro. Brand come Chloé e Michael Kors hanno presentato completi con gonne di media lunghezza; Burberry propone maglioni da college; Versace ha fatto scoppiare la tendenza righe da rugby e Dior ha incluso un sacco di plaid e cravatte nelle sue collezioni, tanto per citarne alcuni. 

In realtà questo stile aveva già raggiunto le strade (o meglio, i divani) questa primavera, quando le persone hanno iniziato a portare i  maglioni annodati in vita o sulle spalle e a rivalutare mocassini e i (comodi) pantaloni chinos. Ed ora stiamo vedendo di nuovo i colletti, insieme a gilet a quadretti argyle, un'altra iconica stampa preppy.   

Con il mondo ancora mezzo in pausa in questo momento, non siamo sicuri di come sarà esattamente il futuro della moda. Ma in linea generale le cose sembrano andare verso una direzione “senza stagioni” e molti stanno investendo in capsule collection piuttosto che in capi supertrendy che domani già sono passati di moda . 

Insomma, è il momento perfetto per lo stile preppy, poiché camicie bianche basiche, pantaloni chinos, kilt, righe e stampe a quadretti sono tutti dettagli che durano nel tempo e non staranno male nemmeno con i jeans carrot-leg, must di questo 2020.

Ed in effetti, lo stile preppy sta vivendo un momento importante. Il color cachi e i cardigan degli anni '90? Sono tornati nei nostri guardaroba, insieme a polo e scarpe Mary Jane. 

Lo stile preppy americano è sopravvissuto ai fallimenti dei marchi e alla chiusura dei negozi, all'ascesa dell'athleisure e alle tendenze del momento: si è semplicemente evoluto per adattarsi a un nuovo modo di indossarlo dopo un periodo di pausa .

Now, after years of stark minimalism and comfy basics, preppy style has returned. 

Back at Fashion Week, the Fall 2020 collections made as much clear. Shows like Chloé and Michael Kors featured mid-length skirt suits; Burberry had collegiate sweaters; Versace broke out the rugby stripes, and Dior included a ton of plaid and neckties. 

Those styles have already hit the streets (er, couches) this spring, as people are back to knotting their sweaters and reaching for pairs of chinos. We’re seeing collars again, along with vests and argyle, another iconic preppy print. These styles are on sale everywhere .

With the world still in a kind of half pause at the moment, we’re unsure what, exactly the future of fashion will look like. But, things seem to be going in a seasonless direction, and many are investing in capsule collections instead of stocking up on here-today-gone-tomorrow pieces. 

It’s the perfect time for preppy style to shine once again, as basic white button-ups, chinos, kilt, stripes, and gingham print are all details that have longevity — and won’t look bad with 2020’s carrot-leg jeans, either.

In fact, preppy style is having a major moment. Those aforementioned khakis and cardigans of the ‘90s? They’ve made their way back into our wardrobes, along with the likes of polo shirts and Mary Jane shoes. 

The american prep style has survived brand bankruptcies and store closures, the rise of athleisure and hype beast trends — it simply evolved to suit a new wearer after each fashion era in which it didn’t quite fit.
