LOOKS: How to Wear Neutral Colors without Looking Washed Out

In genere, quando pensiamo ai neutri, pensiamo al nero, al bianco, al marrone, al tortora, al verde oliva, al blu, al grigio….E probabilmente una delle definizioni che potrebbero far venire subito in mente sarebbe “noiosi”.

Ma queste tonalità tenui sono tutt'altro che noiose, soprattutto se abbinate a fantasie brillanti e audaci, trame “tattili” e accessori sofisticati.

Fai emergere il tuo animale interiore
Le stampe animalier sono ormai considerate sostanzialmente un motivo neutro, ma possono anche essere utilizzate per aggiungere unicità e interesse a un look altrimenti banale. Per inserirle in un ensamble, iniziate con capi della stessa famiglia di colori, ma realizzati con tessuti diversi che risultino a contrasto, come lana e pelle. Quindi, basterà dare coesione al look con un top o un pantalone nella stampa che preferite, a contrasto o nelle stesse tonalità.
Colori coordinati
Se pensate che il neutro significhi rinunciare al colore, ebbene ripensateci. Il trucco sta nell’abbinare colori che si completino a vicenda, come il marrone e l'arancione o il grigio e il viola. Anche i verdi si adattano perfettamente ai neutri, specialmente nella combinazione oliva / cachi. Aggiungete dettagli in vernice eleganti e versatili e sarete pronte a sfoggiare look da far invidia.
Aggiungete “flowe power”
A quasi tutte piacciono i fiori. Ma come inserirli in look neutri? Il mio suggerimento è lasciare che il motivo floreale sia la star dell'insieme e quindi giocare con tonalità neutre terrose della gamma dei colori del giardino.
Abbracciate i toni della terra
Dal muschio attenuato all'azzurro ceruleo, dal sabbia soffice all'arancio bruciato, i toni della terra rappresentano un po’ la parte più dolce dell’abbigliamento smart-casual, essendo di fatto perfetti un pò per tutto, dall'appuntamento di sera al brunch domenicale. E questa palette funziona bene non solo per tutte le occasioni ma anche tutto l'anno
Alzate o abbassate i toni
Ricordate che uno degli aspetti più interessanti di questi colori è che non solo sono eleganti da soli, ma sono anche un modo semplice per far esaltare o attenuare altri colori o motivi.

Typically, when we think of neutrals, we think black, white, brown, taupe, olive, navy, gray…. And probably one of the definitions that could come to mind would be "boring".

But these soft shades are far from boring, especially if combined with bright and bold patterns, "tactile" textures and sophisticated accessories.

Bring out your inner animal
Animal prints are essentially now considered a neutral pattern, but they can also be used to add uniqueness and interest to an otherwise tame look. To insert them in an ensemble, start with pieces that are in the same color family but are made of different textiles like wool and leather. Then, just tie the look together with a animal-print top or pants.
Coordinate colors
If you think neutral means you have to forego color, think again. The trick is to pair colors that complement each other, such as brown and orange or gray and violet. Green partners nicely with neutrals as well, especially in the once-military-only olive/khaki combo. Add stylish patent leather shoers and a versatile beige backpack and you’re head-to-toe ready to go.
Add flower power
everybody loves getting–and wearing–flowers. Who doesn’t?! But how to work them into your wardrobe? I suggest letting the floral pattern be the star and grounding it with shoes in a neutral earthy hue pulled fresh from the garden palette.
Embrace earth tones
From muted moss to faded blue, soft sand to burnt orange, earth tones hit the smart-casual sweet spot, making them the perfect go-to for everything from date night to Sunday brunch. This all-occasion palette works well year-round, too
Turn it up or tone it down
Dont' forget that not only are they elegant on their own, but neutrals are an easy way to make other colors or patterns pop or downplay bold, bright pieces.
